Gullwings Children’s Museum hosts the Kids Zone coloring area adjacent to its popular “On The Go” mobile museum that’s chalked full of hand’s on discovery exhibits to capture the imagination and encourage exploratioin. Boys & Girls Club of Ventura hosts the bag and parcel check. Proceeds benefit the non-profit group that provides diverse activities within the community to meet the interests of all youth. Programs engage young people in activities with adults, peers and family members that enable them to develop self-esteem and to reach their full potential. Based on physical, emotional, cultural and social needs and interests of girls and boys, and recognizing developmental principles, programs focus on character & leadership, education and career development, the arts, sports, fitness and recreation. Clinicas del Camino Real will be presenting a free health screening clinic especially for attendees on Friday and Saturday only. At absolutely no cost, patrons can stop in for a check up including, blood sugar, vision, blood pressure, and bone density. Literature will also be available on self-breast exam, birth control, and H1N1 flu, among others. The Harvest Festival is pleased to partner with them in this valuable community outreach program. FOOD Share, Ventura County’s only regional food bank, will offer a $2 discount on admission at the Harvest Festival entrance with the donation of three non-perishable items. Even if you don’t have a green thumb, you’ll be interested in FOOD Share’s sustainable gardening booth. Visitors will learn how to “grow an extra row,” build a garden box and have the chance to “adopt” a vegetable plant to take home and nurture. FOOD Share’s “Garden Share” program is a community-based effort that engages individuals and neighborhoods to grow gardens and then donate excess to help feed the hungry of Ventura County. Kids Are 1st will be offering free child ID Kits that include fingerprinting with accompanying photo images. A non-profit organization dedicated to protecting children and educating families through child ID events and car seat safety checks, families will want to utilize their services on site.
